Finding Your Program

Requirements vary by program, and each program has its own guidelines. Keep these factors in mind when choosing a program.

Location: Choose by country and by campus. There are small-town and major metropolitan options.
Housing: Live among local students or with a host family.
Goals: Thinking about your personal, academic, and career goals can help guide you.
Cost: Estimated cost is measured from exchange rates, tuition, and airfare.
Academic standing: You must be in good academic standing with a 2.3-3.0 minimum GPA.
Language: You don’t have to learn a language to study abroad. Many programs have no foreign language requirement, including programs in non-English speaking countries.
Timing: The best time to go will depend on your major. Talk with your academic and faculty advisor early to plan.
- The most common time for a full semester abroad is the second year. Many students still work it into their academic plan as seniors.
Graduation timeline: With early planning, a full semester abroad will not delay graduation. You can earn credits within your major that work toward your degree.
